Mapping Etna Fileshare as a Network Drive

If you find yourself accessing Etna | Scholarship or Etna | Classes frequently, it is convenient to map your Etna directory as a lettered or named drive.

For Windows 7

  1. Select the Windows Button (generally the lower left hand corner of the screen).
  2. Select 鈥淐omputer鈥�. 聽A new 鈥淐omputer鈥� dialog window should pop up.
  3. Select 鈥淢ap Network Drive鈥� from the 鈥淐omputer鈥� dialog window.
  4. On the 鈥淢ap Network Drive鈥� dialog box, select a drive letter for your mapped drive. 聽The default 鈥淶鈥� is usually fine.
  5. In the 鈥淔older鈥� box, enter the netapp path to your Etna Scholarship or Classes directory (e.g. \\netapp.bcis.bates.edu\etna\Scholarship\[Firstname Lastname]).
  6. On the 鈥淢ap Network Drive鈥� window, the 鈥淔inish鈥� button should now be active. 聽Select 鈥淔inish鈥�.
  7. Your newly mapped network drive should now be an option when you select 鈥淐omputer鈥� from the Windows button.聽聽If desired, you can create a shortcut for this mapped drive on your desktop.

For Windows 10

  1. 翱辫别苍听File Explorer聽from the taskbar or the聽Start聽聽menu, or press the聽Windows logo key听听+听贰.
  2. 厂别濒别肠迟听This PC聽from the left pane. Then, on the聽Computer聽tab, select聽Map network drive.
  3. In the聽Drive聽list,聽select a drive letter. (Any available letter will do.)
  4. In the聽Folder box, enter the netapp path to your Etna Scholarship or Classes directory (e.g. \\netapp.bcis.bates.edu\etna\Scholarship\[Firstname Lastname]). 聽To connect every time you log on to your PC, select the聽Reconnect at聽sign-in check box.
  5. 厂别濒别肠迟听Finish.
  6. Your newly mapped network drive should now be an option when you select 鈥淐omputer鈥� from the Windows button.聽聽If desired, you can create a shortcut for this mapped drive on your desktop.

For MacOS

  1. Select the 鈥淕o鈥� dropdown navigation option from the navigation bar at the top of the desktop. 聽Then select 鈥淐onnect to Folder鈥�.
  2. From the resulting 鈥淐onnect to Server鈥� window, enter the desired server address. 聽For your folder on the Etna/Scholarship drive, you would provide something like “smb://netapp.bcis.bates.edu/etna/Scholarship/[Firstname Lastname]鈥�. 聽Then select 鈥淐onnect鈥�.
  3. You should now be able to access your folders and files within your netapp/Etna space.
