鈥淲e鈥檙e at the 乐播传媒 Garden and we鈥檙e doing something different this year, which is just cultivating a third of the garden with butternut squash and cherry tomatoes. The rest we鈥檙e just leaving to cover crop so we鈥檝e planted oats and peas, and that will keep the weeds down amd also put a lot of organic material back into the soil.What we鈥檝e also done differently is we鈥檝e let a lot of stuff become wildflowers, and it鈥檚 really neat. It鈥檚 the most insect life I think I鈥檝e ever seen in the garden. So we鈥檙e thinking about doing that going forward.The butternut squash we鈥檙e growing because it basically takes care of itself. Aaprt from Hermione, whose been volunteering every weekin the garden, we don鈥檛 have any paid student gardeners this year.This year we鈥檒l probably send the cherry tomatoes to dining. A lot of the squash we鈥檙e going to send to St. Mary鈥檚 Food Bank.鈥漈om Twist, Sustainability ManagerFacility Services谓 鈥淚t鈥檚 just cool spending time with Tom and gardening. Quarantining can be kind of isolating so it鈥檚 nice to be out here and do some physical work, something that鈥檚 physical in the garden. And it鈥檚 nice to see them grow that fast. And we鈥檝e got berries down there as well: strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries.
