Snow and frozen temperatures have us wondering why we moved here, especially when it was below zero for a week. Actually we love it, and things are going very well for us. We bought a house together last summer and moved in during the fall. It’s been great spending the weekends finding things to fix up, and we dream of finishing the upstairs. If anyone wants to come visit, we have the ping-pong table set up in the basement and the Weber grill is just starting to peak out from under the snow. In January, Jessica accepted a position as director of special events with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation of Minnesota, where she is in charge of three fund-raising events this year, including a five-thousand-person 8k road race. Reid spent the winter coaching cross-country skiing at a local high school and working for the National Cross-Country Ski Education Foundation, which he founded. The NCCSEF has 120 members and is going strong in its first year. Cujo and Winston (cats) enjoyed their winter inside, but are looking forward to spring — like the rest of us in the Great White North. If anyone is in the area, we have an extra bed. In January聽Matthew Fox wrote from Turkmenistan, in the former Soviet Union, where he has been a Peace Corps volunteer since September. Along with learning Russian and Turkmen, the volunteers teach English to school children and some university students throughout the country. Matthew says since the Soviet breakup “this area of the world has come alive with independent activity.”
