CITL Fellows

Program Overview

ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½â€™s Center for Inclusive Teaching and Learning (CITL) offers fellowships on an ongoing basis. CITL fellows can be faculty or staff educators,* who help design, plan, and enact CITL programming, expanding campus capacity for inclusive and evidence-based pedagogical practices. We are fortunate to have a grant from the Davis Educational Foundation to monetarily support this program. 

The CITL Fellows Program advances CITL’s mission of promoting and supporting excellence in teaching and scholarship at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ College. In doing so, the program recognizes and leverages ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ educators’ expertise to lead in the sharing of knowledge, experience, and creativity.

CITL anticipates supporting 4-5 fellowships each semester.

CITL Fellows Responsibilities

CITL Fellows work with the Director & Associate Director of CITL to bring professional development programming to ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ educators. CITL fellows engage in the following activities:

Identify an area of focus related to a teaching need on campus that is interesting to you. This could be a new-to-CITL topic or something already in our repertoire.

Consider how you might bring this topic to our campus: book club, panel discussion, workshop, community of practice, info session.

Work with CITL to design, plan, and enact that programming. 

Application Process and Selection

Qualifications:

  • ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ College Faculty & Staff Educators* (all roles, titles, and disciplines can apply) 
  • Desire to learn about teaching and learning
  • Desire to support colleagues in developing their pedagogical practice

Time Commitment and Remuneration: 

  • Time commitment and remuneration will depend on your fellowship. A fellowship could entail working on a one-off event (e.g., organizing a panel discussion, facilitating a workshop), supporting an ongoing program series (e.g., leading a community of practice or a book club), or adding to our shared repository of resources.
    • Possible time commitment for a one-off event: ~2 hrs for meeting with CITL, ~ 6 hrs for preparation, ~2 hrs for event = 10 hrs/semester ($500)
    • Possible time commitment for a program series: ~ 4 hrs for meeting with CITL, ~10 hrs for preparation, ~ 4 hrs for event = 20 hrs/semester ($1,000)
    • Possible time commitment for resource contribution: ~2 hrs for meeting with CITL, ~8hrs for creation of materials = 10 hrs/semester ($500)

Application & Selection Process: 

  • Step 1: Submit an interest form, which you can find at this link:
    • In this form, you will be asked to briefly describe the teaching and learning topic(s) you are passionate about and that you would like to explore more deeply and share with colleagues on our campus.
    • Interest forms will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis.
  • Step 2: Discuss with ideas with CITL.
    • Following review of the interest form, you should anticipate being invited to meet briefly with CITL to discuss your fellowship idea.

*Staff Educator: A non-faculty member of our campus community who designs informative materials and/or facilitates learning experiences for either students or colleagues.
