The STEM/Pre-Health Student Assistant plays an important role in advocating for students interested in STEM and healthcare careers by providing resources as well as individualized and tailored support in their career exploration process. As part of the PW Student Team, this paid role works closely with the Associate Director of STEM and Pre-Health Advising to create career development programs and assist with outreach to the campus community. The STEM/Pre-Health Student Assistant role is open to current sophomores and juniors, and provides an excellent opportunity to serve as a role model for peers, gain a deep understanding of the Purposeful Work career resources, and build valuable communication and organizational skills applicable to future career paths or graduate school.

PW: Purposeful Work Intern Advisor

The �ֲ��ý Center for Purposeful Work invites applications for a Purposeful Work Internship Peer Advisor. This paid position offers the opportunity to work closely with the Center’s professional staff, particularly the Employer Engagement team, to provide exemplary support for �ֲ��ý students and external employers in the internship exploration, reflection, and presentation process. This position will be an excellent opportunity to gain a deep understanding of the center’s internship and career resources, develop communication skills to small and large audiences, and gain practical experience that they can use in their future professional endeavors and/or graduate school pursuits.

-Students should be available to work 6-8 hours per week, with some evening events and would start spring 2025.

CPW: Bobcat Ventures Program Coordinator

The Bobcat Ventures(BV) Program Coordinator will collaborate closely with Purposeful Work (PW) staff to promote, market, and plan BV programming. Duties will include creating communication plans, creating marketing messages to promote across campus, recruiting participants, and assisting with event planning. The BV program is a multi-month workshop series that culminates in the Bobcat Ventures Pitch Competition. The Program Coordinator will participate in bi-weekly planning meetings, attend workshops, and assist with planning and hosting the Pitch Competition. The bulk of the work will occur between October and April. This on-campus position is available to sophomores, juniors, and seniors from any major.

***Note: Students hired for this role will not be able to compete in the Bobcat Ventures Pitch Competition. This rule is in place to respect the integrity of the competition. If you apply for this role and are not hired, you are still eligible to participate in the competition.

This paid position offers the opportunity to work closely with the Center’s professional staff, to provide exemplary support for �ֲ��ý students in the internship exploration process. This position will be an excellent opportunity to gain a deep understanding of the center’s internship and career resources, develop communication skills to small and large audiences, and gain practical experience that they can use in their future professional endeavors and/or graduate school pursuits. Must maintain strict confidentiality of student, alumni, and employer information
Students should be available to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. They should anticipate starting in late spring 2025.

The �ֲ��ý Center for Purposeful Work invites applications for Purposeful Work Peer Advisor’s. This paid position offers the opportunity to work closely with the Center’s professional staff to provide exemplary support for �ֲ��ý students in the career exploration process. Those who are successful in this position will advance their own career exploration and gain substantial paraprofessional experience. Purposeful Work Fellows will have an excellent opportunity to gain a deep understanding of the Purposeful Work career internship resources, develop communication and advising skills, and to gain practical experience that they can use in their career fields or graduate school.

Specific responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

Educate and provide guidance to enrolled students on topics such as networking, transferable skills, resume and cover letter development/revisions, interviewing, internship and job search, etc.; this work will take place during drop-in office hours, via phone or e-mail, and at workshops.
Advise peers on ways to get involved on campus to build leadership and networking skills, provide motivational support, and act as a sounding board.
Collaborate with the Center staff to manage a wide range of projects and events.
Provide advice to the Center staff on strategic ways to engage students (especially for first-years and sophomores), faculty, and staff.
Assist in developing and implementing marketing strategies for Center events, provide advice on student trends and publicity methods to reach target audiences.
Provide support to the Center staff for projects as needed to assist with the development of Center programs and operations.
Represent the Center at events (as needed).
Must maintain strict confidentiality.

Summary Of Position:

The Purposeful Work Office Assistants collaborate closely with professional staff to provide premium customer service to students, alumni, employers, and other constituents. This position offers an excellent opportunity for students to develop communication, marketing and organizational skills, and to gain an understanding of the Purposeful Work career and internship resources, services, and opportunities. Successful applicants will be hired by May, with a possible brief training over Short Term with an official start when you return for the fall semester in September. This position is open to students of all class years, majors, and interests.
