{"id":1099,"date":"2016-01-28T18:00:27","date_gmt":"2016-01-28T23:00:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/sociology\/?p=1099"},"modified":"2026-01-26T11:05:05","modified_gmt":"2026-01-26T16:05:05","slug":"youth-family-and-community-investing-in-the-next-generation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/sociology\/2016\/01\/28\/youth-family-and-community-investing-in-the-next-generation\/","title":{"rendered":"Youth, Family, and Community: Investing in the Next Generation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Sociology at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ College and Advocates for Children, in collaboration with the Androscoggin Collaborative presented a Series of Documentary Screenings raising awareness of the importance of early childhood and youth, and taking action for a better future for all children.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><em><strong>Paper Tigers<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/em>January 28th at 6 pm:<strong><em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><em>Paper Tigers<\/em> is a compelling new documentary that explores the impact of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and captures the transformation of struggling teens as teachers use the latest developmental science and trauma-informed approaches to break the cycle of adversity in their lives.<\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\nRaising America<\/strong><br \/>\nThe <em>Raising America Series<\/em> is a multi-part documentary series that explores the question: Why are so many children in American faring so poorly? What are the consequences for the nation&#8217;s future?
