Summer is moving along, and Arrival Day will be here before we know it. Here are a few items to keep in mind over the next few weeks:

  • Please remind your new Bobcat to check their 乐播传媒 email and the Garnet Gateway regularly. Several first-year experience聽聽have already been released. Students have also received updates聽that First-Year Seminar registration opens at聽10 a.m. ET on Monday, July 17聽and that a webinar on course registration will be held on聽July 18聽for incoming students.聽
  • Just for parents/guardians, registration is open for all our August . These are excellent opportunities to hear from current 乐播传媒 families in your general geographic region, get answers to your specific questions, and connect on-screen with other new families. (Sorry – these sessions are not recorded.)
  • Finally, this  is a handy resource as you begin to plan your student鈥檚 travel to and from 乐播传媒. It鈥檚 definitely worth bookmarking!

Greetings from campus! We have several updates for you today:

  • A number of important items are live in the Garnet Gateway, including student health forms, the housing questionnaire, and the AESOP form. If your student hasn鈥檛 already done so, please remind them to check their Admission portal for details on registering in Garnet Gateway. All student forms, updates, and deadlines are shared via the Garnet Gateway.
  • Students also already have access to the enroll/waive process for the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) in the Garnet Gateway. This is due by May 31. Note that if your incoming student does not complete this process by May 31, a fee will be placed on their student account, and they will be enrolled in the SHIP. For more information please see this update.
  • Registration is now open for all our in-person and virtual welcome events. These are great opportunities to begin building your 乐播传媒 network. Check the schedule here – we look forward to meeting you!

With around five weeks to go until drop-off day, students are going through a number of steps related to . They will hear shortly about their First-Year Seminar (FYS) assignments. Next week, starting around August 3, students will hear from an academic advisor who will help them finalize their other fall semester course selections by the August 9 deadline.
 
Please remind your students to check their 乐播传媒 email address for updates, information about a student-only 鈥淎sk Me Anything鈥 session on course registration, and resources in Lyceum. If they have questions, students should reach out to the . Information about AESOP trips, housing, and roommate assignments will be released the second week of August.
 
On the parent side, we encourage you to participate in our Virtual Welcome Series, if you haven鈥檛 yet had a chance to join a session. These Zoom gatherings provide a parent-to-parent perspective on the 乐播传媒 experience. Learn more and register at the links below. International families are welcome at any session that works for their timezone.

It鈥檚 official – the Class of 2026 is now fully enrolled! We are thrilled to welcome you and your students to 乐播传媒.
 
We hope our summer-long outreach will help you feel at home at 乐播传媒 and help you support your students as they manage the transition to college.
 
Today, we want to share these resources:

  • This year, 乐播传媒 will host both in-person and virtual Summer Welcome events, so please check the schedule and watch your email for invitations. In-person events help family members and their incoming students meet other new Bobcats. Virtual gatherings are designed for 乐播传媒 families to provide you with a parent-to-parent perspective.
  • First-year students will hear from the First-Year Experience team throughout the summer. Next week, incoming students will receive an update about their access to Garnet Gateway. Garnet Gateway is where new students complete needed forms before arriving at 乐播传媒 such as activating their 乐播传媒 email, making housing requests, ranking AESOP preferences, and submitting health forms. Please remind your student to activate their Garnet Gateway account.
  • Once your student is on Garnet Gateway, if you would like access to the portal in order to view your student鈥檚 financial aid, billing, or other information, your student must grant you access using this process.
  • First-year student arrival is Wednesday, August 31. Fall student-athletes typically arrive before the rest of the class, and they should consult coaches directly about team arrival dates. International students also have an earlier arrival date, so please watch the schedule for that update.
  • Back to 乐播传媒: Family Weekend will take place Sept. 30-Oct. 1, 2022. We encourage you to make travel and hotel arrangements as soon as possible.

We need your thoughtful reflections!

Baccalaureate (Saturday, May 28th at 2pm, the day preceding Commencement) is a reflective ceremony planned and led by members of the graduating Class of 2022 in collaboration with the 乐播传媒 Multifaith Chaplaincy. The ceremony is designed to celebrate the graduates鈥 journey through 乐播传媒 and beyond, and the event speaks from the languages of many religions and spiritualities, and combines poetry, music, dance, and reflection. 

Please complete this form no later than April 4th if you would like to have your thoughts鈥 whether in the form of poetry, prayers, prose, or short stories鈥 for inclusion in the ceremony!

On Saturday, June 4, the 乐播传媒 Class of 2020 will finally have the opportunity to cross the Coram Stage on the Historic Quad, and we want you to be there, too.

We are thrilled to have you save the dates of June 3-4, 2022, for a special graduation celebration for the Class of 2020 and their families and support networks.

Registration will open later this month. In the meantime, read more about how families are invited to participate in the weekend鈥檚 events, which will be part of our Reunion Plus event.

We can鈥檛 wait to see many of you on campus as we celebrate your 乐播传媒 graduates in person!

The Commencement 2022 weekend schedule has been updated, and additional details will be included as we move through spring. 

Other updates for you today include:

  • The Commencement FAQ is a helpful resource for families as well as for students. New information is added regularly, so you may want to check this link frequently.
  • Baccalaureate will feature family reflections on the journey and accomplishments of this year鈥檚 graduates. The Multifaith Chaplaincy encourages you to submit your thoughts by April 4. 
  • Seniors have received instructions on how to order caps and gowns by the March 20 deadline. They have also been asked to update their contact information with the college by April 1. Thank you for any gentle reminders you can offer your seniors on these tasks!

89 days to go – we can鈥檛 wait to see many of you on campus for the big day!
