Pearson \u201975, vice president for college advancement. \u201cI am especially grateful to the more than 700 alumni and parents who supported this effort as committed and tireless volunteers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am deeply grateful to our donors for their generosity and steadfast commitment to ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½,\u201d said President Clayton Spencer. \u201cThis steady rise in giving allows us to strengthen core aspects of the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ experience \u2014 strong academics and curricular innovation, generous financial aid, and dynamic student programs that nurture our students\u2019 rich array of talents and interests.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>This past\u00a0year\u2019s 35 percent increase in philanthropy to ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ follows an increase of 33 percent in fiscal year 2014.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Gifts to the 2015 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/giving\/fund\/\">ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Fund<\/a> totaled $6.36 million from alumni, parents, and friends. Within the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Fund total, gifts from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/alumni\/friends-of-bates-athletics\/\">Friends of ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Athletics<\/a> in support of Bobcat teams exceeded $580,000, an increase of 18 percent from 2014. Overall, giving amounted to $21,594,453.<\/p>\n<p>Engagement and philanthropy is on the rise across generations and regions. Reunion-year alumni increased their giving nearly 75 percent in 2015. This past\u00a0year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/alumni\/events-with-president-spencer\/\">Presidential Events<\/a> saw significant attendance increases over 2014 \u2014 up 76 percent in New York, 70 percent in Portland, Maine, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/alumni\/2015\/04\/13\/san-francisco-march-event-president-spencer\/\">18 percent in San Francisco<\/a>, and 10 percent in Los Angeles. The nearly 400 alumni, parents, and friends who attended <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/news\/2015\/06\/23\/new-york-spencer-gumbel-chu\/\">the New York event at the Whitney Museum of American Art<\/a> made it one of the best-attended off-campus ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ events ever.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe growth in giving to ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ reflects a deep affection for the college and strong commitment to the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ experience,&#8221; Pearson said. \u201cOn behalf of the entire campus community, I offer my gratitude.
