Using her own power-figures to imitate Leutze鈥檚 composition, she sparks a conversation about public memory and rewriting history through the lens of privilege.

Ralph Eugene Meatyard: Stages For Being: Bringing concepts from Zen Buddhism and Surrealism to his photography, Meatyard (1925鈥�72) painstakingly staged images in rural Kentucky that, working on multiple levels, are best read like poetry that uses symbolic language to provoke reflection and revelation.

The Social Justice Speaker Series at 乐播传媒 presents author Kiese Laymon on Sept. 26.

Jay Bolotin: The Book of Only Enoch: Bolotin shows prints and plates that tell the dreamlike story of a sensitive Southern Jewish boy named after an apocryphal book left out of the Hebrew Bible. At 6pm Oct. 3 in Olin 104, the museum screens Bolotin’s The Jackleg Testament, perhaps the only example of a woodcut-based motion picture; a reception with Bolotin follows.

Robert Indiana: Now and Then: Surveying the career of the pioneering Pop artist known for his monumental works “LOVE,” “EAT” and “THE ALPHABET,” this show debuts Indiana’s series “Like a Rolling Stone,” based on lyrics from Bob Dylan’s musical landmark.

Senior Thesis Exhibition 2016: The exhibition highlights work selected from the thesis projects of 12 seniors majoring in studio art. Thesis projects vary from student to student, each pursuing an individual interest. David C. Driskell: The Doorway Portfolio: Twelve serigraphs by artist and art scholar David C. Driskell, exploring the notion of the doorway “as a passage between two worlds,” are shown with 12 pages of handset letterpress prose by Michael Alpert, a writer, book designer and artist. Driskell’s dynamic prints include both pictorial and abstract representations of the passageway concept.
