The holiday program includes selections from Charlie Brown’s Christmas and The Nutcracker as well as a few other surprises.

Noonday Concert to feature Black Family Trio /news/1998/11/13/black-family-trio/ /news/1998/11/13/black-family-trio/#respond Fri, 13 Nov 1998 17:57:54 +0000 http://home.bates.edu/?p=21366 The Noonday Concert series continues its season with a concert by the Black Family Trio on Tuesday Nov. 17, from 12:30 to 1 p.m. at the college’s Olin Arts Concert Hall. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

Composed of Bonnie Black and her children, violinist Mari, 12, and cellist Glenn, 10, the Black Family Trio is recognized throughout New England for its frequent performances on the concert stage and in schools, hospitals, churches, nursing homes and festivals.

A versatile musical family, the group also appears as the Electric Shoes Band, playing traditional fiddle music for contradances and folk performances, and has received awards from the National Music Teachers’ Association, the Arcady Music Festival, the Northeast Fiddler’s Association and the Cambridge Artists Competition.

Noonday Concert Series to continue /news/1998/09/24/noonday-concerts-series/ /news/1998/09/24/noonday-concerts-series/#respond Thu, 24 Sep 1998 19:09:16 +0000 http://home.bates.edu/?p=22233 The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ College Noonday Concert series continues its fall season with a selection of programs throughout the month of October. The free concerts, open to the public, will be held on Tuesdays from 12:30 to 1 p.m. in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall.

The artist for the Oct. 6 concert will be announced. Anthony Shostak, banjo, will perform Oct. 13. ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ applied music instructors Carol Furman, clarinet; Julia Adams, viola; and Mark Howard, piano, will perform works from Mozart Trio Oct 20. Pianist Brian Franck will perform works by Russian composer Alexander Scriabin Oct. 27.
