The program includes Giuseppe Verdi’s “Overture to ‘La Forza del Destina,'” Guy Woolfenden’s “Illyrian Dances,” Aaron Copland’s “Down a Country Lane” and Gordon Jacob’s “Concerto for Band.” After a brief intermission, the concert will conclude with Ron Nelson’s “Courtly Ayres and Dances” and Frank Ticheli’s “Cajun Folk Songs.”

Bach, Gustav Holst, W. Francis MacBeth, Jamie Texidor, Ralph Vaughn-Williams and John Wasson. The public is invited to attend free of charge.

Manduca, a member of the applied music faculty at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, also teaches at the University of Southern Maine and at Manduca Music Studios. He performs with the Portland Symphony Orchestra, Portland Brass Quintet, Maine Bones, Maine Music Society and the Portland Opera Repertory Theater. He also conducts the Southern Maine Trombone Choir and the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ College Jazz Ensemble.

Composed of ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ students and faculty members, area residents and some local high school students, the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ College Concert Band is open to musicians interested in working on wind pieces for band performance. The ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ College Concert Band rehearses every Tuesday during the academic year at 7 p.m. in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall.

The concert will feature the music of two accomplished Maine teachers and composers, Terry White and Criag Skeffington, in addition to selections from the acclaimed Count Basie and Maynard Ferguson bands. ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ senior Thad Carlson of Middlebury, Vt., will solo with the band.
