Because of the Feb. 8-9 snowstorm, three ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ arts performances and a folk music festival have been postponed or canceled.

• The Feb. 8 Ladysmith Black Mambazo concert has been postponed. L/A Arts, the concert presenter, hopes to reschedule the event for late June-early July. All current ticket holders should retain their tickets until that date; all purchased tickets and ticket winners, will be honored for this date. • The F.A.B. Winter Dance Showcase, a collaboration between ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ and the Franco-American Heritage Center, has been rescheduled for March 2. For more information, call 207-689-2000.

• The third annual ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ College Folk Music Festival, planned for Feb. 8 and 9, has been postponed. The Freewill Folk Society hopes to reschedule it for May.

• The Feb. 9 performance by the Gerald Clayton Trio has been postponed, with the new date to be announced.

Led by a jazz pianist and composer twice nominated for a Grammy, the Gerald Clayton Trio performs at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ College at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, in the Olin Concert Hall, 75 Russell St.

The New York Times likens Clayton to jazz legend Oscar Peterson and praises him for a “huge, authoritative presence.” In a concert review, Los Angeles Times critic Don Heckman wrote that “individually and collectively, (the trio’s) performance was at a stunningly high professional level — enhanced by the enthusiastic feeling of exhilaration in everything they played.”

“I have listened to lots of different musical styles as long as I can remember,” Clayton says. “I seek to blend the various styles and sounds I love into a balanced, tasteful musical language.”

The trio’s latest recording is 2011’s Bond: The Paris Sessions (Decca/Emarcy Records). Recorded at Studio de Meudon in Paris and engineered by Grammy-winner Joel Moss, the disc “exhibits a new level of chemistry that has developed between the three of us,” Clayton says.

“Since each of the compositions is dedicated to various personal bonds in my life, listening back conjures up specific memories and emotions for me.”

Drummer Justin Brown and bassist Joe Sanders round out the trio.

Still in his 20s, Clayton has worked with top jazz musicians such as Roy Hargrove, Diana Krall, Hank Jones, Kenny Barron, Lewis Nash and Al Foster. In addition to his trio, he performs with the Clayton Brothers Quintet, which features his father, bassist John Clayton, and his uncle Jeff Clayton, a saxophonist. From 2006-08, Gerald toured extensively with various ensembles led by trumpeter Hargrove.

Born in the Netherlands in 1984, Clayton grew up in Los Angeles. His compositions have been commissioned by the Jazz Gallery in New York City and performed overseas by the BBC Orchestra.
