Take heart, David. I’m sure the courses cover “Oresteia” and “Lysistrata” plays by Aeschylus and Aristophanes, a tragedian and comedian respectively each of which has a great deal to say about gender and sexuality. Of course, these were written ~ 2500 years ago, perhaps making them seem out of date. Hint: they aren’t. The Athenian playwrights just explored the topics before we did.

David, what exactly do you find concerning about the critical examination of gender and sexuality as social, cultural, political and economic constructs?

Is the point of seeking out a liberal arts education not the capacity to explore a variety of disciplines and obtain a wide knowledge base?

Personally I doubled majored in neuroscience and economics, but I took a course in GSS and found it immensely rewarding.
