Cheney was pushing hard against a formidable dark force to admit women and people of color to his new college. I think we underestimate in today’s culture how challenging that was. (Dartmouth didn’t even admit women at the same rate as Men until the late 1970’s!) On a practical level, by refusing the money he received from �ֲ��ý Mill he wasn’t going to change the slave trade. He’d make a moral point but nothing would have changed. Instead he took ill gotten gain if you will, and used it to help try to change the system itself over time. My hat’s off to the guy. Rev.
