I too am retired,soon to be 69, and found idleness a drain on my day to day life. Yes, I enjoyed the freedom of not having to be at work at 7:30 every morning but otherwise soon discovered that one can only play so much golf (in my case hardly any), read the paper cover to cover, and wonder what else to do for the rest of the day. Therefore, I undertook starting up a small handyman business and even with minimal advertising, soon found that there were many older women trying to keep up there homes who need small repairs that larger companies didn’t want to bother with. My business is limited only by the amount of time I want to devote to it and while it does offer a little extra income (not a necessity in my case), more importantly, it gives me a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction knowing that I still can be productive…and appreciated!
