In recent years the use of quantitative data and statistics in community-engaged research at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has been growing. At the Harward Center, Faculty Fellows Dr. Carrie Diaz Eaton and Dr. Laurie Baker have been working with our staff and local partners to enhance the visibility, accessibility, and organization of community-engaged data work at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½. In addition to amplifying this work internally, some of our colleagues have also been promoting and supporting this work more broadly through their own scholarship and research.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this week\u2019s blog post we lift up a newly published article about community-engaged data and statistics in vISIon: The ISI Magazine, featuring the work of several ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ authors. ISI, The International Statistical Institute, focused the second issue of their new magazine on data for social justice and human rights. Five ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ collaborators contributed to an article entitled, \u201cBeyond the data: How community-engaged statistics and data science transforms research on social issues.\u201d Joining first author Claire Kelling of Carleton College were ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ contributors Laurie Baker, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, student Paige Bilich \u201826, Carrie Diaz Eaton, Professor of Digital and Computational Studies, Morgan Kinney, Associate Director of Community-Engaged Research and Learning, and Anamika Sen, Assistant Professor of Economics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
