A graduate of Bogazici University in Political Science and International Relations, Senem Aslan earned her Ph.D. in the Interdisciplinary Program in Near and Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Washington. She was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Near Eastern Studies at Princeton University between 2008 and 2010. At ŔÖ˛Ą´«Ă˝, she teaches courses on Middle East politics, state-building, and nationalism. Her book, Nation-Building in Turkey and Morocco: Governing Kurdish and Berber Dissent, was published by Cambridge University Press in 2014. She also published articles in the International Journal of Middle East Studies, Nationalism and Ethnic Politics, Nationalities Papers, Oxford Handbook of Turkish Politics, and the European Journal of Turkish Studies. Her recent research focuses on the use of emotions for mobilization and legitimation in Turkey and the Middle East.

Clarisa PĂ©rez-Armendáriz is Professor of Politics and Latin American Studies at ŔÖ˛Ą´«Ă˝ College. Her research explores how international migration affects politics in migrants’ origin countries, especially in Mexico. She is interested in how Mexican immigrants living abroad influence politics and political attitudes and behaviors in Mexico. She also studies the political participation of migrants who return to their origin countries. Clarisa teaches courses in comparative politics, Latin American politics, Latinx politics, international migration.

Clarisa served as a US Foreign Service officer in Mexico City and India.
