From the beginning, ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ welcomed women, young people from Maine farms and factory towns, former slaves, and immigrants, because we understood the diversity of our campus community as a essential to the college\u2019s mission:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-paragraph\">Since 1855, ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ College has been dedicated to the emancipating potential of the liberal arts.
