Below you will find information on these Commencement topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"#location\">Commencement Location<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#schedule\">Commencement Day Schedule<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#ticketupdate\">Guests and Ticket Update<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#whattobring\">Weather, What to Bring, and What Not to Bring<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#watching\">Watching the Ceremony<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#restrooms\">Restrooms and Facilities<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#safety\">Keeping You and ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Safe<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#todos\">Senior To-Dos<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have any questions or need assistance, please email <a href=\"mailto:Commencment2021@groups.bates.edu\">Commencement2021@groups.bates.edu<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"location\">Commencement Location<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/commencement\/2021\/03\/12\/faqs-what-to-expect-when-youre-expecting-commencement-2021\/\">As we announced in March<\/a>, the 155th Commencement of ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ College will be held in-person on the Coram Library Terrace on the Historic Quad on Thursday, May 27, 2021. As exciting as an in-person Commencement is for us at ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½, we&#8217;re sure it&#8217;s doubly so for you and your family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Commencement represents the largest on-campus gathering in almost two years. To celebrate safely \u2014 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maine.gov\/decd\/checklists\/large-gatherings-ticketed\">following Maine regulations<\/a> for large gatherings and ticketed events \u2014 Commencement will comprise two ceremonies, at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., <em>each accommodating half the senior class, grouped by alphabetical last name.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignwide size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/commencement\/files\/2021\/05\/COMMENCEMENT-2021-ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½-Campus-Map-210511.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/commencement\/files\/2021\/05\/COMMENCEMENT-2021-ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½-Campus-Map-210511.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5600\"\/><\/a><figcaption>This campus map shows locations of resources and activities for ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Commencement on May 27, 2021, including vehicle parking, restrooms, handicap accessibility, entrances to guest seating on the Historic Quad, boxed-meal pickup locations, and, of course, the ceremony itself.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"schedule\">Commencement Day Schedule<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Morning Commencement: 9am (Seniors with last names A\u2013K)<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Guest seating opens: 7am<\/li><li>Senior Lineup on Alumni Walk: 7:45am<\/li><li>Guest seating closes: 8:15am \u2014 n<em>o guests seated after 8:15am<\/em><\/li><li>Procession Begins: 8:30am<\/li><li>Ceremony starts: 9am<\/li><li>Recessional 10:30am<\/li><li>Boxed meal distribution: 10:30am\u20131:30pm (Muskie Archives, Olin Arts Center, Frye Street, Lane Hall parking lot).\u00a0<em>Seniors meet\u00a0your guest(s) at the boxed meal location closest to your residence.<\/em> <em>Seniors returning for Commencement and December graduates can pick up meals at the location that&#8217;s convenient.<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Afternoon Commencement: 3pm (Seniors with last names L\u2013Z)<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Guest seating opens: 1pm<\/li><li>Senior Lineup on Alumni Walk: 1:45pm<\/li><li>Guest seating closes: 2:15pm \u2014\u00a0<em>no guests seated after 2:15pm<\/em><\/li><li>Procession Begins: 2:30pm<\/li><li>Ceremony starts: 3pm<\/li><li>Recessional 4:30pm<\/li><li>Boxed meal distribution: 4:30pm\u20136:30pm (Muskie Archives, Olin Arts Center, Frye Street, Lane Hall parking lot). <em><em>Seniors meet\u00a0your guest(s) at the boxed meal location closest to your residence.<\/em><\/em> <em>Seniors returning for Commencement and December graduates can pick up meals at the location that&#8217;s convenie<\/em><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Seniors will only be allowed access to the ceremony for which they are scheduled. Seniors may not change their ceremony time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After their ceremony, seniors have until 7 p.m. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/commencement\/2021\/03\/30\/end-of-the-year-information-moving-out-edition\/\">to move out of their campus rooms <\/a>\u2014&nbsp;but we encourage all seniors to move out as soon as your ceremony is over.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ticketupdate\">Guests and Ticket Update<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each graduating senior <em>who is on campus for Commencement and participating in-person<\/em> may invite two guests to attend in person. Guests must have tickets in order to be admitted to the ceremony on May 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the last week of April, seniors will be sent a communication with instructions on how to register their two in-person guests.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guests will be expected to stay in their seats during the ceremony. As in the past, a professional photographer will take pictures of each senior as they cross the Coram Terrace, and the seniors receive a link to access their photo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"whattobring\">Weather, What to Bring, and What Not to Bring<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Commencement 2021 will be outdoors, rain or shine. Guests should be prepared for inclement&nbsp;\u2014 hot, cold, or wet&nbsp;\u2014 weather. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No water stations will be available, so guests should bring water. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ cannot welcome pets to the ceremony this year, guests may be accompanied by their assistance, service, and\/or emotional support animals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"watching\">Watching the Ceremony<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We will broadcast both&nbsp;Commencement ceremonies on <a href=\"http:\/\/bates.edu\/live\">bates.edu\/live<\/a>&nbsp;and Facebook for families and friends to join&nbsp;the celebration remotely<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"restrooms\">Restrooms and Facilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guests may not enter campus buildings except for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/map\/#\/\">restroom access in six buildings<\/a>: Carnegie Science Hall, Chase Hall, Gomes Chapel, the Mays Center, Merrill Gymnasium, and the Ronj.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"safety\">Keeping You and ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Safe<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All participants and guests at Commencement 2021 will observe the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/commencement\/covid-guidelines\/\">public-health guidelines and follow the Guest and Returning Senior Testing and Vaccination Policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At time of ticketing, guests will attest that they will not attend Commencement if:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>They are experiencing any symptoms such as a fever (100 degrees or more),  chills, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, fatigue , headache, vomiting or diarrhea.<\/li><li>They have had close contact with an individual diagnosed with COVID-19 and have not completed the required quarantine period.<\/li><li>They are currently required to self-isolate or quarantine by their doctor or a public health official.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"todos\">Senior To-Dos<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At this time seniors should have completed their cap and gown order, and their updated contact survey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In mid-May, seniors will be sent a detailed communication that will include rehearsal times, COVID testing information, and Commencement day schedule as well as other important time-sensitive information.<\/li><li>Seniors will have until 7 p.m. on May 27, 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bates.edu\/commencement\/2021\/03\/30\/end-of-the-year-information-moving-out-edition\/\">to move out of their campus rooms <\/a>\u2014&nbsp;but we encourage you to move out as soon as your ceremony is over.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Rehearsals will take place on Wednesday, May 26, at which time seniors will be issued their cap,
