As we watch the new buildings rising across the street at 55 and 65 Campus Avenue, we are reminded of the countless construction projects ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ has undertaken as the college has steadily expanded over the past 160 years.

The exhibit case outside the offices of Special Collections now houses selected photographs documenting some of those projects, from Garcelon Field and Rand Hall to Petengill Hall and Lake Andrews. For more information you can visit our .

The Muskie Archives houses materials relating to ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ Veterans from most major conflicts, and in honor of our Archives Supervisor Elaine Ardia has put together an exhibit of selected materials in the case outside our offices, as well as this .

Our exhibit includes Civil War correspondence, such as this letter from Charles Garcelon, Second Lieutenant in the 16th Maine Infantry.

Students were supportive of Vietnam veterans entering ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ with the necessary standing to secure off-campus housing:

In addition, ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ offered a short term course for students interested in working at the Veterans Hospital at Togus, Maine:

ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½’ own Ed Muskie also supported expanded federal support for Vietnam veterans as a United States Senator.

Finally, a search of our archived copy of the ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ website brings up about two ÀÖ²¥´«Ã½ students, one a Marine veteran who served in Afghanistan and another who grew up in Afghanistan.
